Breech Body

As summer begins there is always the pressure to get a “beach body”. Dieting companies target people by creating an ideal image for women and men. Recently, I’ve seen this diet culture leak into the equestrian world. I’ve seen quite a few articles and posts recently about getting a “breech body” or “show season ready”, and I’m here to tell you that EVERY body is a breech body. People come in all sorts of shapes, sizes, and colors, especially equestrians! There is no ideal “cookie cutter” shape for an equestrian. Instead of focusing on breech size, focus on what makes you a great rider. Your passion and love for the sport is far more important than how much you weigh or how you look in your show clothes. Easier said than done, believe me, I understand. Instead of focusing on your insecurities, focus on what you love about yourself. In my case, I love my amputation. I love it because everyday I look at myself and remind myself what I overcame and how much stronger …

The Pony Express Girls

We all love Christmas. But who says it’s only in December?! The Pony Express Girls deliver a monthly Christmas for you and your pony, right to your doorstep. The best part is that each month the subscription boxes are a complete surprise. You never know what you’ll get, but you will never be disappointed! I received my Pony Express Girls box on January 7th, and I couldn’t have been more excited about it. Individually unwrapping each little gift was a blast! My particular box had a Stud Muffins advent calendar, fuzzy socks, a few great horse magazines, and a cute good luck bridle charm. I love how they incorporate items for the horse and rider. Charlie and I were both feeling pretty spoiled! At Pony Express Girls, you can also choose between a one year subscription or a one time box. What is even better is how affordable these packages are! All of their package options range from $18.58 to $170.98. This makes it a perfect and affordable gift for any equestrian friend, or a …

SmartCookies-The Smart Choice

In an earlier post, I mentioned how I’m a treat hoarder. I usually have at least four different types of treats on my tack trunk at a time! Although my horse loves this treat collection, it is not the best for his health. Everytime he does something good or just plain cute, I pop a treat in his mouth. Giving him a super sugary treat each time he looks at me is like me eating a donut every time I accomplish a small task. For horse treat addicts like myself, SmartCookies by Smartpak are the answer. SmartCookies come in two delicious flavors, ChiaMint and Guilt-Free Carrot Cake. I have to start by saying that these treats smell incredible! The second I ripped open my bag of ChiaMint treats, the sweet smell of peppermint hit me. You know you spend too much time around horses when the smell of nice horse treats make your mouth water! Although the scent of these treats is positively dreamy, my favorite thing about them has to be the short and …

Equestrian Skin Care Essentials

Between dry winter air and working at the barn all day, it is important to treat your skin to a little pampering! Being on Accutane as well, dry skin is already a major issue. Add dry winter air to that mix, and you have yourself quite the issue! That is why I put together a short list of my go to skin care essentials.      First I use the Aveeno Ultra-Calming Foaming Cleanser. At only $5.99, it is a wonderful product at an even more wonderful price! This face cleanser is very gentle but it easily removes dirt and makeup. This cleanser would be perfect for all skin types. I used to have very oily skin and it worked perfectly for me then, and it works perfectly with my dry skin now. Another great thing about this cleanser is that you can find it at any drug store. I personally bought mine at Target, but I have seen it in every drug store. Next I use the Lani Tropical Super Serum. I absolutely love this …

The Perfect Girth

Total Saddle Fit is a company focused on providing innovative  girths and cinches. Let me start off by saying, I am a fan. I had been drooling over all of their products for a while, so of course I was beside myself when they contacted us for a review. I had the pleasure of testing out the Synthetic Shoulder Relief girth. This is the newest and most affordable girth, and you need one. The shape of this girth is contoured to fit the grooves of your horse’s body. The center of the girth is set forward to sit in a much more comfortable position for the horse. The sides cut back 2 inches behind the horse’s natural “girth groove” to meet the billets. This allows the billets to lie perpendicular rather than be angled towards the shoulder. Why is this important? This wonderful feature allows for total shoulder clearance and prevents the billets from hindering full movement. It also allows your saddle to stay in a proper, comfortable position and prevents it from being pulled forward. …
